MEET THE FOUNDER

Colonel (Retired) John Moore, PCC
Founder & CEO, Moore Strength Executive Leadership and Business Advisors

Small Business Breakthroughs Magazine

John Moore is a leadership architect, executive advisor, and organization builder who helps business owners and senior leaders build organizations that endure—organizations grounded in disciplined leadership, resilient systems, financial rigor, and healthy cultures, where growth is steady, resilient, and sustainable over time.

John’s work is shaped by a conviction earned through experience, not theory: businesses and economies rarely fail suddenly; they deteriorate gradually when leadership discipline, systems, financial rigor, or culture are neglected. Enduring strength—deliberately built—is the most reliable safeguard against that decline.

A distinguished graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point (top 5% of his class), John served for 30 years as an Army officer, culminating in command at the Colonel level. His career included four combat tours, a combat parachute assault, and senior leadership roles in organizations ranging in size from 30 to more than 180,000 people. In his final decade of service, he was recognized as one of the Army’s leading subject matter experts in leadership and organizational development.

Those years forged a defining leadership philosophy that now underpins Moore Strength: clarity before action, discipline before growth, systems before heroics, and stewardship before ego. John saw firsthand that when leadership is strong and ordered, organizations absorb pressure and perform under stress; when it is not, deterioration quietly sets in—damaging people, families, and communities long before failure becomes visible.

John’s entrepreneurial roots run just as deep. He started his first business at age eleven. He took the trash of residents in his apartment complex from their door to the dumpster three times a week for $2.00 per month—an early lesson in value creation, margin discipline, and accountability. By his teens, he was operating multiple small ventures while working in three local businesses, learning firsthand how leadership behavior, customer trust, and execution discipline determine outcomes. Those lessons never left him.

After retiring from active duty in 2012, John chose not to pursue a second pension or corporate security. Instead, he returned to building businesses and developing leaders. As founder of Moore Strength Executive Leadership and Business Advisors, he has advised CEOs, senior executives, directors, and leadership teams across privately held companies, Fortune 500 firms, federal agencies, and mission-driven organizations. He has logged more than 15,000 hours of executive coaching and advisory work and is an International Coaching Federation–credentialed Professional Certified Coach (PCC). He has also been recognized as a top-performing coach within Focused.com and selected to train and mentor other advisors.

John’s work today is focused on building strength that endures across organizations at every stage. Through Moore Strength and its integrated operating system, The Moore Strength 12™, he helps leaders strengthen foundations before pressure exposes weakness—by developing disciplined leadership, installing resilient systems, reinforcing financial discipline, and cultivating healthy organizational cultures. The result is growth that is steady, controlled, and sustainable—growth that holds under pressure and compounds over time.

At the core of John’s philosophy is stewardship. He believes leaders are responsible not only for results, but for the long-term health of the people, systems, and cultures entrusted to them. Leadership, in his view, is not about charisma or control; it is about setting standards, telling the truth early, and building strength that endures beyond the leader.

John has partnered with organizations including the Department of Defense, FEMA, the Federal Reserve Bank, Boeing, Phillips 66, Swiss Re, and numerous federal agencies and privately held companies. Across sectors, his focus remains consistent: strengthening leadership capacity, closing performance gaps, and helping organizations replace short-term reaction with long-term resilience.

In parallel with his advisory work, John is building a select team of Strategic Growth Advisors—experienced leaders committed to carrying this standards-based work forward and helping business owners build enduring strength one enterprise at a time.

Outside of his professional work, John is deeply committed to family, faith, and legacy. He is the father of four daughters and the grandfather of three, roles he considers his most important. A lifelong baseball fan who once dreamed of pitching in the Major Leagues, John now channels that same competitive drive into helping leaders build businesses—and lives—that are worthy of their effort.

Moore Strength exists for leaders who want more than short-term success.
It exists for those who want to build strength—so deterioration never has a chance to take root.
